Can you give us some locations to see when we visit Ecuador? In Cuenca?
Off the top of my head I would say: Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Otovalo, Mindo, Ambato, Loja, Vilcabamba, Salinas, Manta, Olón, Puerto Lopez, Baños, Lago Agrio (Nueva Loja), Puyo. To do it right, you’d need at least 2 – 3 months. In Quito be sure and go to San Juan de Cumbaya / Tumbaco; also Parque Carolina and Quicentro. In Guayquil, be sure and go see Iguana Park, Samborondón, the Terminal Terrestre, and Mall del Sol. Please be careful.
In Cuenca I’d definitely recommend seeing downtown, San Juaquin and Chaullabamba, even though it’s 20 minutes outside of Cuenca. I’d also recommend stepping into Hospital Regional José Carrasco Arteaga as well as Hospital Monte Sinaí to see public and private health care. Also, one should go to 9 de Octubre market in the downtown area. Though it’s fairly safe, keep your phone in a zipped pocket. It’s very demonstrative of the government markets. Be sure and visit all three floors. Pay 30₵ and go into the public restrooms on either the basement or 1st floor. Stop by a convenience store on just about any block and buy a water or a coke. Take the two bus tours that leave from Parque Calderón in the center of downtown.
Would you take us around and serve as a tour guide? Will you help us relocate?
The short answer is sure. The long answer is how much disposable income do you have (think thousands)? I’m only available one and three quarter’s days a week. However, I do have some English-speaking friends who would have a much more reasonable hourly rate (like $10 – $20) and are available many more days (like 4 – 6). My relocation price would be 4 – 5 times higher than my tour guide price, on my schedule – oh, and I have very limited experience with this (ours). I’m just way too busy with my own personal life and with keeping this website running. I’ve already turned down a couple of very good job offers here.
Is this website designed for everyone?
It’s designed for those who are thinking of moving here. For those who’ve decided, well perhaps they should just buy the eBook on Amazon – better use of their funds. For those who are trying to talk their mates out of moving here, then they should find most of their ammunition in the book.
I bought the book. Now how do I get a discount off the website price?
Send a message through the Contact Us form. I’ll send you a simple question to prove you have the book. Once you answer the question, I’ll send you a code to reduce the subscription price by the cost of the book. Simple. If you want a milkshake, that will be way harder.
